Marine Capt. Brian R. Chontosh of Rochester, N.Y., received the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism in Iraq.  This is a story from a year ago but I just discovered it and found it interesting.

On Memorial Day 2005, please take a moment from your long weekend and remember and honor the "doer of deeds" – our nation's servicemen and women.  Read my annual message here. 

Read in the news about the Crazy Horse Memorial (South Dakota) making a fund raising push. 

I received this via email and at first was skeptical but did some checking and it is valid.  A great statement!

Oh' how our government loves to spend (and waste) our money.  The 2005 Congressional Pig Book is a document from Citizen's Against Government Waste. 

Last week Newsweek magazine reported a story that accused U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay of desecrating the Quran.  Gee, after 15 lives are lost during rioting over the report, Newsweek says, "Oops!"  Irresponsible reporting again. 

An effort is underway to build a veterans memorial in the Denver suburb in which I live. 

Political correctness run amuck – again!  This woman has had a license plate that reads "John 3-16" for 20 years.  Now someone complains and Washington state is reviewing it and possibly going to revoke it.  All of course in the name of "seperation of church and state."  Sad state of affairs.
