Are the markets a referendum on the president and his bailout plans?
Let us hope not! Here is how it has looked recently:
The Dow and S&P 500 closed Monday at their lowest levels since 1997.
The markets have dropped nearly 10% since Inauguration Day (chart below).
The markets dropped a record 14% between Election Day and Inauguration Day.
The markets dropped a record 4% on Inauguration Day alone.
