When a soldier comes home

When a soldier comes home, he finds it hard….
…to listen to his son whine about being bored.
…to keep a straight face when people complain about potholes.
…to be tolerant of people who complain about the hassle of getting ready for work.
…to be understanding when a co-worker complains about a bad night’s sleep.
…to be silent when people [...]

Climate change hearing on Capitol Hill highlights politics and hypocrisy

As legislators in Washington D.C. debated a climate change bill that would levy new taxes on businesses and potentially cost consumers, political theatre was in full view Friday at the House of Representatives.  The House Energy and Commerce Committee held hearings all last week on the legislation, culminating with the appearance of former Vice President [...]

Friday funnies – The President’s TelePrompter

A bit of amusement today.  The President’s dependence on his TelePrompter is well known.  As we have documented before (click here), we have been less than impressed with his speaking ability and have no idea how he has gotten a reputation for being a great orator.  First up today, a couple of interesting links:

This is completely outside the normal range of items we post on here but after watching the video and reading the story on one Susan Boyle, we feel compelled to share it.
“Britain’s Got Talent” is a television show not unlike the similar one here in the United States (is it still on?).  Performers show a [...]

Only with RTD is a pay cut actually a pay raise

In the wake of RTD forcing salaried employees to forego their scheduled 3 percent pay raise, the ever magnanimous and generous RTD chief Cal Marsella told the RTD board yesterday, “I am willing to take the same hit as everyone else.”
Just last month Marsella generously agreed to give up 3 percent of his $50,423 pay [...]
