Matt Maupin - Remains RecoveredIt was announced Sunday that the remains of Sgt Matt Maupin were recovered in Iraq.  Sgt Maupin was captured in Iraq on April 9, 2004 when his fuel convoy, part of the 724th Transportation Company, was ambushed west of Baghdad.  He was later seen on Al-Jazeera surrounded by five masked men holding auotmatic rifles.

Since that time, the Army has continued to search for him, veterans organizations have championed his cause and his parents have held out hope he would be found alive.  Yesterday's news brings an end to the wait.  Matt's father Keith said, "My heart sinks, but I know they can't hurt him anymore.  Our mission continues." Keith and Carolyn Maupin said that they will continue to do as they always have and support our troops via the Yellow Ribbon center that sends care packages to troops.

We ask that all of our readers stop for a moment and say a prayer for Sgt Matt Maupin and all others who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of this nation.  May they rest in peace.
