Quote of the day: Abraham Lincoln on the people, Congress and the courts
I saw this recently in a Denver Post opinion piece penned by Clear the Bench Colorado and thought it was very good and well worh publishing.
We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.
~ Abraham Lincoln
Hi Tony –
thanks for the mention!
Lincoln’s quote is certainly relevant to our situation in Colorado these days – the current majority on the Colorado Supreme Court has certainly done much to “pervert the Constitution” over the last few years.
I’d like to encourage people to get informed – and get involved! Comment on the Denver Post opinion piece (http://www.denverpost.com/opinion/ci_15423823) and/or on the unexpurgated version on the CTBC website (http://www.clearthebenchcolorado.org/2010/07/02/accountability-transparency-apply-to-the-colorado-supreme-court-too/)
The Constitution is OUR rulebook to keep government under control – if they can ignore our rulebook, they can do whatever they want to us. Our highest courts are supposed to defend our rulebook, not re-write it to suit their personal agenda while the game’s in progress…
