Recent headlines – $13 tax break from Obama, In state tuition for illegals, and more
I’ve found myself pretty busy here lately and not having the time to enlighten everyone with my words of wisdom. However, I did want to post links to and brief notes about various things in the headlines this week.
Colo. senator wants immigrant tuition benefit – Is the fourth time the charm for this outrageous bill? Do you want your tax money to subsidize the college education of those in this country illegally? I didn’t think so.
Unions’ political effort pays – In a scary statement on how ‘blue’ Colorado is turning, unions are exerting a tremendous influence on policy and elections. Check out this one sentence: “Contributions to state-level races from labor unions dwarfed those from the business community by a ratio of more than 2-to-1.” Does that got your attention? Does Colorado really want unions having that kind of influence on our government? Is it any wonder our politicians are so beholden to unions? This is not a good thing for the state.
Meltdown 101: Highlights of economic stimulus plan (your $13 tax break) – Remember President Barack Obama’s repeated statement during the campaign that “95% of American workers” would get a tax break? Well here it is in the pork-filled stimulus plan – $13 per week. Wow! Don’t spend it all in one place. In the meantime we spent how many billions of dollars to bailout banks and other businesses?
Obama’s Press List, Membership shall have its privileges – Did anyone else notice how during his press conference the other night President Obama called out names of reporters while looking down at his podium and then didn’t even know where the reporter was sitting? It was pretty obvious that he already knew who he was going to call on. No doubt they were all prescreened press members that would throw him softball questions – and they did. It is also interesting to note that columnist Carol Martin of the Chicago Sun-Times recent wrote, that those that aren’t one of Obama’s chosen few, “don’t even bother raising our hands any more to ask questions.”
