Thornton nets two one hundredths of one percent of highway stimulus funds
Absolutely amazing. As I reported earlier, out of the first $500 million of stimulus funds awarded to CDOT, Thornton gets all of one traffic metering light on the ramp from 84th Avenue to I-25. OUCH.
I was pretty mad about that one but was told the city expected to receive some of the $60 million that the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) was receiving. That list was released last Thursday and once again, Thornton gets stiffed. Our grand total from that round – ZERO. Click here to see who is getting the money.
Let’s look at the numbers:
- Colorado transportation funds from the stimulus plan: $560,000,000
- Thornton’s take: $125,000
If my math is correct, Colorado’s sixth largest city and the fourth largest in the metro area received, two one hundredths of one percent of the highway funds directed to the state.
To be exact: 0.0223214286 of 1 percent.
Is it any wonder we have an inferiority complex?
