Does it really make sense to raise taxes in a depressed economy? Someone explain to me.

These reps are firmly ensconced in their districts and right now don’t look to be facing credible challengers in November. Without that threat, they aren’t afraid to raise taxes, just like any good Democrat.

Were these tax increases entitlements that would have expired anyway – the legislators just moved the date from July to March?
