Tony’s Hero: Jeffrey Sahli of Evergreen Middle School
A great story about an extraordinary young man, eigth grader Jeffrey Sahli of Evergreen Middle School appeared in the Rocky Mountain News Friday. Young Mr. Sahli noticed that the flag outside of his school was looking pretty rough and that it wasn’t being treated with the proper respect and he knew that wasn’t right.
He talked to the school principal and soon Jeffrey was in charge of maintaining Old Glory at the school. An aspiring Marine, he said, “I thought the flag wasn’t being treated with flag etiquette. I thought I needed to do that I wanted to serve my country and I thought, heck, I’ll start right here.”
Every morning Jeffrey Sahli raises the flag national ensign with all due respect. After school he lowers it, folds it properly and stows it away in the office till the next day. Rain or shine, Jeffrey Sahli performs this duty every day. For this, Jeffrey is Tony’s Hero.
