Build-A-Bear warns children there will be no Christmas because of climate change
Most parents are familiar with Build-A-Bear, a brick and mortar store that sells teddy bears and other stuffed animals that can be complete customized by your child. They of course have a website and also have an online games site catering to children. Kids can go on buildabearville.com, create a character and explore all sorts of place.
It is in that online game where kids can take their character on a trip to the North Pole and in turn be warned about the dangers of climate change. Taking it a step further, Build-A-Bear takes the climate alarmism to new heights by warning that “the North Pole will be gone by Christmas” due to man’s evil influence on the climate.
From the Climate Change Examiner:
The debate about manmade climate change has taken new heights, or lows for some parents, when it was discovered that the toy company Build-A-Bear Workshop is resorting to scare tactics to frighten children about the purported dangers of manmade climate change and global warming. Children playing the online game that compliments the company’s toys are warned that “the North Pole will be gone by Christmas.”
…
It is on the website built specifically for children that the company has taken to what some are saying is “indoctrination” of children through the use of scare tactics. Children that play the game and take their character on a train to the North Pole to visit Santa’s workshop watch a movie that isn’t as much about science or discussing the issue but about frightening children.
…
Two polar bears, a penguin and Mrs. Claus then seek to educate Santa about how a “few degrees can make a big difference” and how fossil fuels are the root of the evil of climate change. Seven videos in all tell the story and by the time the child is done watching them, they will have spent nearly 30 minutes learning about climate change according to Build-A-Bear.
I do believe kids need to learn more about the sciences and climate change is part of that but this is just ridiculous. This is a corporation using the trust parents and kids have placed in them to portray their corporate point of view of the science and do so to children at a very young age. Notwithstanding that it isn’t their place, it is wholly wrong to try to use scare tactics like this on them. I for one won’t be patronizing Build-A-Bear.

Wow! You would think that a toymaker would be smart enough to stay out of the political fray. I read on another site though that their CEO is a big time Democrat contributor so I guess it isn’t surprising. It is sad that parents have to police their kids’ toys to ensure they don’t carry a political message.
