postheadericon Congressional excess and hypocrisy

United States Congress SpendingThese types of stories aren’t surprising anymore by any means but that doesn’t make them any more palatable.  The long and short of it is that taxpayers footed the bill to send 101 Congress-related personnel including 21 Congressmen and Senators to the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen last month.

The sad part is, that there won’t be any outrage over this and it probably won’t even be a blip on the radar because it has been accepted – but certainly it is not acceptable.  Anyway, here is a brief excerpt from the Climate Change Examiner:

Three military jets, 21 Congressmen and Senators plus scores of other staffers flew to the failed UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen last month on the taxpayer’s bill. In a report to be shown tonight on CBS News, Sharyl Attkisson will report on what many are saying is a prime example of congressional waste and hypocrisy.

The climate summit turned into a veritable who’s who of the world’s power elite. Dozens of world leaders attended including President Barack Obama whose efforts couldn’t salvage an agreement.

CBS reports that “at least 101 Congress-related attendees” went to Copenhagen for the summit. Spouses took advantage of the “free” trip as well courtesy of the taxpayer.
