postheadericon I Went to a War Zone and Guess What?

It seems that 25,000 Americans are currently in Lebanon, a war zone.  Of course they went there despite the dangers and the threats and the fact that it is arguably the most unstable region of the world.  So when things get bad what do they do?  They complain that the U.S. government isn't fast enough in bailing them out!

Some of the quotes from these folks:

“I’m getting angrier and angrier. The American government seems to have money for everything else except its citizens,” said Joseph Rizzuto, a high school teacher in Queens, who was trying to get his daughter, Paola Rizzuto, 22, home.

“The guard was so rude and said there was no evacuation plan,” Michael Russo, 23, of Tucson, Ariz., said of his visit to the embassy. “On Wednesday and Thursday I asked them if there was a plan and they looked at me like I was crazy.”

“We are frustrated and disappointed, but we are OK,” said Bob Elazon, an Illinois resident who complained the U.S. evacuation was badly organized.

"I have two kids [and] a baby, and they're scared. I'm scared," Esseily said. "First time I've ever encountered something like this…. It's a very insecure country, and other countries as well around this area. The American Embassy should always have a backup evacuation plan. They knew that this was going to happen at least 12 or 24 hours before it did," she said.

Okay, so let me get this straight…  Again, you put yourself in a known place of danger.  All hell breaks lose and then you are upset that the government isn't fast enough in evacuating you when you knowingly put yourself in that position to being with????  Can someone please explain this mentality to me?  Why is it the government's responsibility – and mine as a taxpayer – to bail these people out when they should have been smart enough not to go there in the first place?
