McCain picks Sarah Palin
BREAKING NEWS: John McCain will announce that Alaska governor Sarah Palin is his choice for the vice presidency.
Wow! This is a bit of a surprise but not in a bad way in my opinion. I would have preferred Romney but Mrs. Palin is a very good choice as well. Assuming she can articulate the Republican message, she could indeed bring over the moderate soccer mom’s that were for Hillary. The “experience issue” could be a problem in that it is the one big issue that McCain has had over Obama. By picking someone who has only been a governor for little more than a year, that advantage is somewhat negated.
All in all, I think this is a good choice. Palin is an up and comer in the party and a bit of a maverick like McCain and complements him well. The pick is also sure to cause a lot of buzz thus stunting Obama the day after the end of the DNC.
