Michael Yon is a freelance writer and photographer who covers a lot of the hot spots in the world, primarily Iraq.  His stories and photos are very significant because they don't go through the typical mainstream media liberal filters so they can portray a very different – and arguably more accurate – picture than what you normally see.  I found this photo and back story very compelling:
