Dissent grows in the scientific community about whether or not man is truly the cause of global warming.

Global warming has been called the greatest hoax of all time by some in the scientific community.  Al Gore, James Hansen and others like them rally around a supposed ‘consensus’ that man is the primary driving force behind climate change.  Dissenting voices are oftentimes shouted down without being given an opportunity to be heard.

One scientific organization, the American Chemical Society (ACS), just recently stirred up quite a controversy when the editor-in-chief of its magazine made some pretty outrageous accusations.  According to Examiner.com:

Editors of Chemical & Engineering News, a magazine published by the American Chemical Society (ACS), find themselves amid an uprising by its members after publishing an editorial attacking those who dare to question man’s effect on the climate. The editorial in the June 22nd issue of the magazine said those that deny anthropogenic [manmade] global warming use “the same tactics used by other purveyors of nonsense rejected by the mainstream scientific community” including the belief in creationism.

The harshly worded editorial by editor-in-chief Rudy Baum insisted that, “The science of anthropogenic climate change is becoming increasingly well established. The scientific consensus on the reality of climate change has become increasingly difficult to challenge.” Baum further goes on to challenge those who believe in God saying, “Creationists, for example, only want to expose students to “both sides of the debate over origins,” ignoring the fact that there is no debate over evolution.”

Just one week later, the professional members of ACS have let their opinion be known and it most likely is not the response some might expect. The July 27th issue of the magazine was filled with dozens of letters rebuking the magazine and its parent society for being so dismissive of dissenting opinions on climate change. The letters border on a rebellion within the society as it draws harsh criticism and calls for Mr. Baum to resign.
