We The People – A letter to President Obama
I really do not like re-posting things I find elsewhere or relying on YouTube videos but every now and then something comes along that is just so good it must be shared. Such is the case with a new video simply titled “We The People” that came out recently.
It is an extraordinary work and the narrative is a letter to President Obama that nicely sums up what so many Americans are thinking. Please watch and share. A transcript is below the video.
Transcript – We The People by Nos Populus
Dear President Obama,
“We The People” have stated resolutely we reject your vision for our country. You claim you have not heard us.
“We The People” have assembled across America resisting your efforts to subvert our constitution and undermine our liberty. You claim you have not seen us.
Since you have not acknowledged our message, let us here present it once more for if as President Wilson said, “a leader’s ear must ring with the voices of the people,” the time has come.
Our greatest treasure is freedom – the absence of restraints on our ability to think and to act. The corollary of freedom is individual responsibility. We believe in the power of the individual.
A few years ago President Bush said, “History moves toward freedom because the desire for freedom is written in every human heart.” Let us add that we will preserve it only as long as devotion to freedom is expressed in the heart of our actions.
When President Lincoln dedicated Gettysburg National Cemetery he declared, “It is for us the living to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus so nobly advanced.”
That unfinished cause for which our soldiers willingly go to battle and for which so many have given their lives is a free United States of America. It has been nearly one hundred fifty years and the work President Lincoln spoke of is not finished. In fact, that work will never be finished.
Freedom is the capacity of self-determination. It is not an entity but a condition and conditions change. Freedom can expand, yet so can it contract.
You promised change when you took office, Mr. President, but subjugation is not change we wanted or will accept.
You have expanded government, violated our Constitution, confounded laws, seized private industry, destroyed jobs, perverted our economy, curtailed free speech, corrupted our currency, weakened our national security, and endangered our sovereignty.
By compromising our nation’s cultural, legal and economic institutions, you are ensuring that our children will never achieve the same quality of life as we enjoy today. Through generational theft you are robbing the unborn of opportunity.
This is not acceptable. Not in America. We did not become a strong nation through hope but rather through self-reliance.
No one better understands the relationship between individual achievement, dignity and strength than our armed forces. Through every war our soldiers have held this nation’s destiny in their hands. They have not failed us. They cherish freedom enough that they are willing to die for it.
Our duty to them and to ourselves is to treasure freedom enough to live up to it.
We accept the challenge, Mr. President. That is why we are assembling across the land to deliver our message to you as often and in every way we can. Dismiss us at your political peril.
Our great nation is a Republic. We will not accept tyranny under any guise. Your policy to redistribute the fruits of our labor is Statism and will not be tolerated.
By our honor, Mr. President, we vow forever to resist coercive government in America. Patriots will not stand silent as you attempt to dismantle the greatest nation on earth. “We The People” will defend our liberty. We will protect our beloved country and America’s exceptionalism will prevail.
God Bless the United States of America!
Sincerely,
We The People
After listening to this, it makes me want to stand up and salute the flag and re-enlist. Great site Tony, Keep up the good work. You should consider running for office.
See comments below. Anyone who supports this nonsense is not too bright, and clearly un-American.
Thanks for the compliment, Joe. As for running for office, maybe someday. I think though I am not politically correct enough and am unwilling to sell my soul.
[...] the antics of President Obama is reflected in “We the People” by Nos Populus Productions. A transcript of the impassioned brilliant letter to President Barack Obama follows: Dear President [...]
So who actually wrote this and exactly what is their claim to speaking for “We the people”?
Has this person been elected to something, done something which makes him or her an outstanding voice of all Americans?
Or as I suspect, this is written once again by some disgruntled far right winger who thinks that if they toss a flag or an eagle or some such other emblem of America, that this makes patriotism = their point of view.
Or perhaps the comments simply reflect a reality that left-wing whackos like yourself cannot comprehend – that we don’t want socialism in America.
Ad hominim arguments look nice, but don’t address real issues. Is someone a “left-wing whackos” because s/he asks for evidence?
It is clear from the last election that most of the country thinks that the “Tea Party” people are the whackos. Despite a small fortune spend by such anti-American people as David Koch, the Republicans won remarkably few seats in the Congress give that (a) the party holding the presidency normally looses seats in an off0year election, and (b) the party in power normally looses seats in a poor economy. Thus, it is remarkable how poorly the Republicans did in this past election!
Let’s do a little fact check on Blue Eagle’s claim that “it is remarkable how poorly the Republicans did in this past election.”
In the U.S. Senate, Republicans recorded their biggest gains since 1994 (+6 seats). Further, they successfully defended each and every seat that they held going into the race.
In the House of Representatives, Republicans caputred 63 seats. This is the greatest number of seats captured by any party in any single election since 1948 and the most for any midterm election since 1938.
Taking it a bit more locally, Republicans netted a gain of six governorships.
Far from a poor performance. Sounds more like sour grapes from the left.
One of the most despicable displays that I’ve seen in a while!
You know, it only takes one lie to demonstrate that I can’t believe you. Go match the text of the Gettysburg Address to the “quote” in this scrim. The text, and more important, the tone differ.
More to the point, President Obama has none NONE of the things that he’s charged with. These morons should be going after the people who have amassed fortunes raping the country, and the average American over the terms of our past few Republican presidents.
For shame!
Blue Eagle is right, of course. The impressive graphics and patriotic music disguise the fact that the screed itself accuses Obama of vague misdeeds without ever specifying exactly what it is that he is accused of. It is the Koch brothers and other billionaires who back the Tea Party movement who have committed a multitude of sins against America, I’ve been searching for information on who Nos Populus Productions is, and where it’s money comes from. I’m willing to bet that its the brothers or some others of their ilk. Get a grip peo9ple — and then get the facts!
What exactly is the president accused of? It spells it out in the text:
“You have expanded government, violated our Constitution, confounded laws, seized private industry, destroyed jobs, perverted our economy, curtailed free speech, corrupted our currency, weakened our national security, and endangered our sovereignty.”
One can easily find examples of each and every one of those. You, sir, should get the facts.
I agree wholeheartedly with people who have the insight to wonder just exactly WHO put out this video. I’ll bet it’s the people who don’t like out president and don’t know a thing about what he’s done to change the face of our economy. Let us not forget people…President Obama did not cause any of what’s happened….he inherited it. Look to the republicans abd see who cause the mess we’re in today.
Please listen this this this again and take special note that it actually says nothing at all. the patriotic music and the women’s great voice make people without their own cognition think something is up but if we could just track who watched this and their thoughts I think we’d find out people who can’t think for themselves are forwarding this because it sounds good. No fact based anything here is presented.
Obviously some of you just don’t get it. It doesn’t matter who put on the video. What matters is that it reflects the sentiments of a majority of Americans that our government, and particularly the leftist elements, have lost touch with us.
Donna – I’m sure you are right that this video was put on by people who don’t like our president but I think we all know a fair bit about what this president has done to our economy and it isn’t pretty. Yes, I agree he inherited a mess and it is double sad to me that much of it came down from a Republican watch but that doesn’t excuse him from doubling down on the mess to make it, at least in terms of debt, 60% worse. Note: that is not 60% worse than the prior administration of 8 years but 60% worse than ALL prior greedy idiots combined – and he accomplished that in 2 years. Add to that violating our constitution in seizing US Corporations and instituting a health care plan that is clearly unconstitutional.
This president and so many of his cronies and czars are statists and socialists that many of us view as antithetical to the American experiment and future. That is the conversation. Does his view of of what he wants to “change” America into serve me and my children and grandchildren. I don’t think so – and I believe it enough to work very hard against it.
To those of you who rant against greedy ‘Republicans’ who pull strings I would just like to challenge you, because I agree with you, to look carefully at your side. I sincerely believe you cannot find any higher moral ground in your leadership. That is why our Founders designed America and our Constitution as they did. They recognized that men are fallible and greedy and that checks and balances were needed which is why they specifically rejected the kind of centralized governments you are promoting and from which they fled. There is no Utopia. Men will never lead us to perfect peace nor to any Utopia. Government can never be perfect nor even excellent because there are men in it but we can insist that it protect our freedom and we can protect ourselves from it by keeping it on a leash.
Give me freedom or give me death.
Ah, Patrick, if you were only here now!
I think that the “left” can call me anything they want to. They can accuse me of anything they want to. They can believe anything they want to. But after all is said and done, We will use our voice. We will vote.
Well , here we are , more than a year since this was first aired , and guess what ?
Unemployment is still over 9% , gas is 1.00 MORE than a year ago , housing prices have continued to drop , cost of consumer goods have risen , we now have THREE wars to fund ( Yes , Libya IS a war ), more people are living with government assistance , the job market continues to shrink ,transparency in the government has disappeared ( it was NEVER there ) , people’s wages have gone down, the debt is the highest in history , cash for clunkers did more harm than good , and the stimulus plan was a joke.
So , somebody please tell me the good that has come from our present administration. Anybody ???
What good came from the last one? That didn’t benefit the wealthy that is…
