Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman has certified Amendment 46 for inclusion on the November ballot. The measure would ban race and gender hiring preferences in Colorado and is long overdue. Similar measures have been passed in recent years in California, Michigan and Washington. This is long overdue and will finally allow government agencies to hire the best person for the job - not the person that best fits some profile of race or gender. Affirmative action is discrimination by another name and needs to go away. Whether you discriminate against someone because of their color or discriminate against someone else to meet a quota it is wrong. Having been a victim of affirmative action myself, I am looking forward to voting yes on this measure. Coincidentally there was a Washington Post article on MSNBC today about these measures. Click here to read it. |
