An effort is underway to build a veterans memorial in the Denver suburb in which I live. 

Anyone who knows me knows this is something that would be near and dear to my heart.  As such I have recently joined the Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to making a veterans memorial a reality in the city. 

Under the auspices of Denver Web Host, I will be donating web hosting and design services to the organization.  I will also be doing my best to help bring in the donations that will be needed to make this happen.  Current members of the foundation encompass city council members, members of the Boy Scouts, Rotary, senior citizens center, the Elks, Wal-Mart, the American Legion and more. 

Perhaps most notable, Terry Cooper, the mother of Lance Corporal Thomas Slocum is a member.  This extraordinary young man graduated from the same high school I did and died in Iraq two years ago.  More information here.
