I found this graphic rather interesting – counties for the entire country colored by which way they went in the election.

For the most part, the only areas Kerry won were major metropolitan / heavily populated areas while Bush absolutely dominated 80% of the country in terms of area. 

So which candidate and party is truly more representative of the nation? 

Colored counties are those where a candidate has won with 100% of precincts counted.
